Gabriel Garcia
Marquez is one of the few unique writers of the new century, specially characterized for his literary techniques employed
though out most of his works. He inherited the ability to narrate stories from his mother who always narrated about extremely
exaggerated events but made them sound real. Garcia Marquez developed this style of writing about supernatural and fantastic
things, describing them in a natural and detailed manner converting them into reality. For this reason he is considered one
of the founders and best writers of Magical Realism.
Garcia Marquez's
language utilized in his works is enriched by the folklore of his people, culture, and place of origin "Aracata" that is formed
by diverse ethnicities (Spaniards, Germans, Arabians, African American, natives, and mixed races.) For instance, Chronicle
of a death foretold, in this novel the diversities of races concentrated in the region of Colombia can be observed. This allows
the author to explore different cultural backgrounds in his stories. Although nobody is certain where Garcia Marquez obtains
his ideas, it is suggested that everything is based on real life stories occurred in his land of origin. He says that his

Furthermore, the
author usually writes about events occurred in Colombia, mixing it with the supernatural but making it seem real. In the novel
Chronicle of a death foretold, the author said he obtained his inspiration from the news paper that revealed a horrifying
story about a young medic who had been assassinated by two brothers who where recovering the honor of their sister because
he had taken her virginity before she was married. He then wrote the novel based on the main idea of the assassination of
the medic but changed it completely to fit his purpose of revealing the theme of fatality, and destine. The style of
Gabriel Garcia
Marquez is unique and brings a new form of writing influencing other writers. He is a writer of great caliber needless to
say why he was awarded with the novel prize for literature. Garcia Marquez represents his people and always writes about topics
dealing with them. In conclusion, he submerges his audience in a complete magical but real world through his works. |
